There have, of course, been many Stupor Bowls since 1989. But looking back at the 1989 ads, the ole Doc has these second thoughts:
Punch line: “Uh-huh. Dana’s about as sharp as a bowling ball. He’s the one who got stuck with all the tabs. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t afford to be that smart.”
Actually, that spot looks even stupider now:

The Doc admits he missed the boat on the Bud Bowl, which ran for another eight years. But this line endures even longer:
The worst thing was that Budweiser got NBC sportscasters to provide the voiceover. Whatever happened to separation of church-key and fourth estate?
